Update on Lakeside qualification and seeding following the end of Q-School:

https://dartswdf.com/news/2023-wdf-worl ... ips-update

The World Darts Federation (WDF) can confirm changes to the field for the 2023 Men’s WDF Lakeside World Championship following the conclusion of the Professional Darts Corporation’s Q-School.

In compliance with WDF rules, the 128 players declared as PDC Tour Card holders will be ineligible to play in WDF ranked events throughout 2023. As such, Robert Owen, Richard Veenstra and Nick Kenny will not play at Lakeside in December.

As none of the three players secured their Lakeside places through a regional ranking table, their places will instead be awarded to the three highest-ranked players in the main ranking table not yet qualified for Lakeside at the cut-off point of Monday, October 30th.

Seedings

The WDF can also now confirm the seeding criteria for the 2023 WDF Lakeside World Championships.

Those players ranked 1-16 on the Men’s Main Ranking Table and those ranked 1-8 on the Women’s Main Ranking Table as at 31st December 2022 will be the seeded players for the 2023 WDF Lakeside World Championships and are guaranteed second-round prize money.

However, the exact seedings for these players will be based on the Main Ranking table positions at the conclusion of the qualification period on Monday, October 30th, meaning that players’ current seeding positions can and will change throughout the course of the 2023 season.

Full 2023 WDF World Championship qualifying criteria is available here.

The Men’s and Women’s 2023 WDF ranking season begins this coming weekend with events in Romania and the USA. America will play host to the Silver-graded Las Vegas Open, while Romania will welcome players from across Europe for the Silver-graded Romanian Open and the Bronze-graded Romanian Classic.

The first automatic qualifiers for the 2024 WDF Lakeside World Championships will be determined the following weekend when the biggest open in world darts, the Dutch Open, takes place in Assen.

World Masters will probably be by the end of October, as that is the ranking cut-off for seeding Lakeside.

Tickets for the opening sessions start at £25 each, with £100 combination packages available for the opening and closing weekends of the tournament. If the draw going to be that late ticket sales will be slow why say what day the Seeds players and session will be on to help sales

They're not going to do the draw before the missing players spots are filled and the seedings are confirmed, both of which won't happen until the end of October.

I think the WDF are in a much better position to sell tickets than previously, with sensible pricing and an opportunity to market it (they may not take it, but it's there).

Being on sale 8 months before won't do any harm either.
