Re: Darts without Taylor - A future or failure?

The longer Taylor is the No.1 player the bigger the fall will be when he goes. It depends on what happens before he retires. If one or two players come along and knock him off his perch then things should be fine as there will be a proper end to the Taylor era. Van Gerwen beating him in this years W...

Re: BARNEY - QUIT THE GAME NOW

Mardle was always in or around the Top 8 when he got a Wildcard. Three of the times he got it he made the World Semis and the other the last 16.

Re: James Wade - All time great?

From July 2007 until January 2011 Wade was ranked at either No.2 or 3. Taylor was No.1 for that whole period apart from a few months at No.2 during early 2008 when there were no majors on. So they've been at oposite ends of the draw for every major apart from the UK Opens and will be again now that ...

Re: PDC Players Championship Finals 2011 - Money to defend,

I don't think Barrie Bates is going to be dropping much. He didn't get to either the Matchplay or Grand Prix in 2009 and was outside the top 32 at the start of 2010. His form has been poor lately but 2010 was probably his best year in a while.

Re: PDC World Final Beats PL Football and Ashes

Most of those people (irrespective of whether they enjoy the actual darts) think the BBC's coverage of Lakeside is lousy anyway. So what makes anyone think they'd do a better job with the PDC? If it was the BBC or nothing, I'd take it, but other than that give me Sky Sports any day of the week. Tha...

Re: Grand Slam of Darts

Not at all, I just think the comments were extremely cheeky. Boo hoo. Hearns a businessman, he invited the BDO players because it made good business sense. There was no obligation for the players to switch. Waites was able to make £150,000 without having to move. Well done to him, he earnt it. I un...

Re: PDC Awards dinner

After Lewis massive win it wouldn't be right for him to win nothing and Taylor to win almost everything. The PL final might be better but it's very close and I'm a bit Taylored out at this point.

Re: BDO player - would they up their game in the PDC??

The thing about the Lakeside is that the top players aren't playing their best, so how can people expect anything from some unknown. Why can't Waites produce the kind of performances he has had in the Grand Slam, the credibility of the competition would improve dramatically. The same applies to Hank...

Re: Shocking day for the BDO

Up until 2000 or so, Lakeside was still a good tournament although I personally have always much preferred the Circus Tavern ever since the split, since the style of the PDC (WDC in the early days), with all the razzmatazz, was clearly where darts' future lay. The BDO style was passe and stuck in t...

Re: Sky discussion on the 2010 Premier League wildcards

After the World Cup and some convincing performances here, I think Webster is nearly there - wouldn't be surprised if he's effectively been picked already? Here's a left field suggestion though - Mark Hylton? Hylton getting in would have to at the very least involve beating Webster in the next roun...
