Was a good quality of player in that qualifier. Wouldn't have picked that winner. Think he could win a game or 2 with the right draw.

Yeah some of the averages weren't great, but the player entry list was good.

Last Challenge Tour weekend was low 80s.

Well 74-76 range not really low 70s
Like I said it was overall near to that standard.
Lots of games being won in the 50s 60s in the early rounds.

Overall tournament averages can be heavily skewed by the complete no hopers in the early rounds. Looking only at R32 onwards, the averages were

Challenge - 87.7
Development - 87.1
W Europe Qualifier - 86.2
Womens - 73.0

28 countries are represented in the World Championship this year. Think that is one short of the most ever.

Why doesn't Girvan get the World Youth place? Scott Williams' Challenge Tour place went to the 3rd place player rather than another PDPA qualifier.

It's the rules.
PDC Tour spots go down, but other Qualifier spots return to PDPA.

Correcting myself:
(1) There's a specific World Youth Championship rule that says that only the winner can qualify, and other qualification takes precedence.
(2) National/regional qualifiers take priority over OOMs. If a player wins their national qualifier, their OOM place is ignored and the next player down the OOM is invited. However, if a player who wins their qualifier would have been seeded by ranking, they will still be seeded for the tournament.

https://www.pdpa.co.uk/pdc/pdc-rules/
6.9 The following incentives are on offer to players competing in the Challenge Tour, Development Tour, Women’s Series and World Youth Championship:

...

- The finalists of the 2022 World Youth Championship will be included on the 2023 Grand Slam of Darts qualification criteria list subject to the entry criteria as stated in rule 3.1 of this document.
- The winner of the 2022 World Youth Championship receives an invitation to the 2022/23 World Championship.
NOTE: if any of the players who achieve the above otherwise qualify for the 2023 Grand Slam of Darts or 2022/23 World Championship, or reject their invitations, no further places shall be offered.

Wade given an easy draw to stop the free fall down the oom.

Would say the potential number 1 and number 5 in the oom is the toughest draw.
