Wright & van Gerwen have had some exceptional finals down the years, even the World final in 2014 became a close, tight affair at the end. Wright has the game, has beaten MVG on the big stage and on the European Tour before. Has to be more ruthless with his finishing compared to tonight though.
The Champions League final in Leicester this year between the two was terrific entertainment for example.

When MVG celebrates he wouldn’t look out of place on Oches school bus.

Problem might be that there's so much darts on TV nowadays, even the formats are longer in some of the majors from Phil's day. And MVG constantly screaming and gurning doesn't help, whereas Phil would often have a laugh and a joke whilst producing brilliance.

Excellent post trotter, agree 100% with pretty much all of this. Would say that if Price had shown his recent form (as in Grand Slam), it would have been a tough ask for Peter but by no means one-sided as Peter is playing exceptionally well/consistently.trotter01 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 9:41 pm Price should have won that on form but never seemed at the races.. He definitely put too much pressure on himself and always looked on edge.. He was poor at the vital times and Wright was far superior
Hoping Aspinall can win but not rely expecting it over this distance but again I don't think MVG has been anywhere near his best this tournament generally so you never know
Wright had been close to beating MVG in finals but can never complete that winning double.. I do think if it is MVG it will be closer than many think but over the distance it will be MVG again for me

Nate is letting mvg off the hook here. Playing quite poorly by his standards and there for the taking. Pressure getting to Aspinall unfortunately, he knows he should be tied up at least.

Well that’s probably the most uninspiring final we could have had

Agree with that. It will be the Worlds that is remembered for Fallon.

3 x 180 in 39 legs from MVG though is not normal.

Missed tonight but last night he was just going round the board for no reason, 20s then 19sChrisW wrote:3 x 180 in 39 legs from MVG though is not normal.
He looks like he’s completely losing focus like he’s bored up there.
If someone actually showed up against him he would be out as he’s been up for the taking in nearly all of his games. Wright plays like he has last 2 rounds and he’s champion

RTL7 just showed a still of the Wright/Price match where Price's dart is about to enter the board and Wright has not even left the oche.
Seems to pass his neck by 20-30 cms.

5 x byes for MVG getting to a world final playing bang average and with a clown about to drop his pants in the final for him , must be the easiest 1/2 mill any sportsman ever won.

Think this was in the first set. Price threw much to quick at the start of the match, and never recovered from his poor form in the first 2 sets, despite sneaking the 2nd set.
