I wonder if the BDO have tried to get a Dutch broadcaster to take up the event?

Yes because British audiences can all receive Dutch TV channels

How do you expect that to work? All they will care about is British TV, the Dutch binned this event years ago didnt they? And now you are suggesting they should go from not showing it at all to actually putting on the 9 day OB? :?

Prior to this post I’d also asked (on Fanatics) if it was possible to move the 2020 tournament to Holland and whether one of the Dutch broadcasters and U.K. broadcasters would share the costs.

There is no chance, in this world or the next, that the BDO would go overseas with it and run it themselves.

However, maybe its now the time for the WDF to put the event out to competitive tender. See if anyone else wants it.

I would wager Uncle Des inherited the mess of the broadcasters bailing out, but he was on the board before he took over as Chairman anyway.....

They have a sponsor.

Remember when Des gave his speech when he put his name forward for chairman ?
He claimed to bring in sponsors he had already lined up, I hope you are not suggesting he is a liar ?
He did Indeed claim this
like lakeside, I suspect any questions on this will be avoided also

So why didn't he inform us of that as soon as he realised? Transparency my arse........No information of any significance for both players and fans alike.

it was 7 years ago last month that Olly Croft was kicked off the bdo board because the bdo having the Masters and Lakeside on tv was "not good enough"...and bbc at that.
So Martin Adams and Sue Williams kicked the pensioner off the board as they thought they could do better.

fast forward 7 years under sue, des etc and no tv of any type for the masters and no tv it seems for lakeside...if its even held there or at all.

Both the current chairman and finance director where board members in the run up to this disaster. Jacklin is so far out of his depth it is unbelievable, he is a builder FFS. And to think that Paul James and Tommy Thompson encouraged people to vote for him tells you everything you need to know about their lack of judgement.

While not dessys biggest fan it is wholly possible that he didn’t know the true extent of the channel 4 not renewing directors don’t know everything regarding the whole business this is why there’s a sales director finance director & so on, all reporting to mr x& y & don’t forget those trusty non disclosure agreements, my own view is he has been done up like a kipper here by previous custodians of the posts & I do genuinely hope that this ain’t goodnight but I fear it may be,
