That was always going to be the case I'd heard.. like I said previously the PDPA had jumped the gun on saying Barney's card would go to QS... I think its the right decisionRoebuckio wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 6:30 pmSo 31 cards it is - Alcinas must have been pushed up to 64thPreciesJJ wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 7:55 pmMissed about Bain, my apologies.
The PDPA has the top 64 still as TBC, so Alcinas could still get his card.

Agreed Trotter it was definitely on their website then taken off hence thinking 32 based on that info. Alcinas has dodged a bullet not in the room of 300 or so!

Surprised Ana hasn't gone?
Can understand the overseas guys not going, but what's the excuse for the UK based men's players? Considering the BDO will be dead and they cannot pay their players?

Re: 2020 Q School
Surely with the numbers attending its time to look at restricting the pro tour to include a higher number, or run a challenger tour prem and div 1 based on finishing spots on the q-school oom. Potentially run a promotion and relegation system at the end of the year.
Re: 2020 Q School
853 entries in total. Wow. To think you can go back about 8-10 years and Q School was barely scraping just over 100 entries.
This means that the PDPA will have nearly 1000 members this season.

Re: 2020 Q School
Q school costs money. That entry fee is a lot of money if you have nowt and you know in your heart that you simply aren't going to get a return on it because you're not good enough.
Re: 2020 Q School
I've suggested before that the top 128 in the Q School OoM should get a Challenge Tour card (top ups feeding each other where spaces allow), with increased prize money and the the remaining 700 play on a seperate Open Tour, run in conjunction with the many, many opens played across the country.clemy1989 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 7:13 pm Surely with the numbers attending its time to look at restricting the pro tour to include a higher number, or run a challenger tour prem and div 1 based on finishing spots on the q-school oom. It was inevitable, really. Pretty much everyone who plays darts for money has realised that one of the two main organisations has no money at all to pay anyone. What option do they have?

Re: 2020 Q School
Bazza wants nothing to do with 800 or so pub players. Not remotely interested. There's no money in it for him and it potentially pollutes his product - there's no point spending years moving the 'pub game over the road' and making sure that his product only had the best players on the telly if suddenly he has all those pub players in his organisation.
Hearn does want the BDO to survive, in largely it's current form. It keeps the pub players out, except in January when he wants all their q-school entry fees

I think it's wrong. I think that resigned cards should go to Q School.trotter01 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 6:37 pmThat was always going to be the case I'd heard.. like I said previously the PDPA had jumped the gun on saying Barney's card would go to QS... Retirement is just part of the natural cycle. Alcinas wasn't in the top 64.
To make things worse, Alcinas had a terrible year, finishing 96th on the Pro Tour OOM, and failing to qualify for anything.

Re: 2020 Q School
I'm sure they could add another 64 tour cards. Players ranked 65 down play in the 1st round of Pro tour events top 64 get a bye to round too. Rankings updated after each event.
Re: 2020 Q School
41 countries are represented across the two schools this week.
Re: 2020 Q School
What would be the point ?... She wouldn't get a card and wouldn't be remotely competitive on the Challenge Tour these days with the way she's playing..
She may as well save her money.. Events on the BDO/WDF side are not going to disappear and she's still got exbos... Makes sense to me
Re: 2020 Q School
I think the q school fees go direct to the pdpa to cover their costs.meetthefeebles wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 7:20 pm Bazza wants nothing to do with 800 or so pub players. Not remotely interested. If a link up happens with the WDF that may happen.Dannyboy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 7:16 pmI've suggested before that the top 128 in the Q School OoM should get a Challenge Tour card (top ups feeding each other where spaces allow), with increased prize money and the the remaining 700 play on a seperate Open Tour, run in conjunction with the many, many opens played across the country.clemy1989 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 7:13 pm Surely with the numbers attending its time to look at restricting the pro tour to include a higher number, or run a challenger tour prem and div 1 based on finishing spots on the q-school oom.
