bonny
SCOTTISH•NORTHERN ENGLISH
attractive or beautiful.
"a bonny lass"
In Wigan a bonny lass meant 'well built but nice looking'. It was code for chunky.
Any other northerners on here who can concur?
Wigan isn't the north.
Up in the actual north of England, the use of 'bonny' is as Chris W stated.
Fighting talk. Wigan is a key town in the north.
Wigan pier. Wigan pies. Wigan casino. Wigan athletic.
uncle Joe's mint balls. George Formby.

Guess Lorraine has won a leg.
Had to watch shampoo sing 'trouble' on BBC 2. Catchy.
Anyway let's see if quest cover the finals tomorrow.

Not getting diverted too much but Wigan is in the north west of England. A fine town in Lancashire. Full of working class heroes.
And if bonny means attractive: did Comms say that about Greaves family?

Quest staying with the darts. Game on.
game off
Mrs Devo and I not pleased. Well I guess quest is just bonus coverage but they could have shown the next set.
it's crap, they didn't have even the courtesy to say 'fuck this, let's watch a repeat about an angry midget del boy' and just switched it off
if it happens next year they have a couple of easy fixes to go for
Quest have lost the rights to football league highlights to ITV next season.
So if there is a Lakeside 2023 no reason for Quest to bin darts off Saturday night for their contractual football at 9pm.
On the bonny debate. I’m from Manchester and bonny was more a jolly girl rather than a chunky one.
The skinny girls down south were referred to a whippets though as in the greyhounds, all skin and bones rather than having some meat on them.

Quest have highlights of tonight at 4pm, then live finals from 5pm.
They better get a move on with the games as they bin it off for reality TV, Aussie Gold Hunters at 10pm.
