Good final, although less fireworks than hoped for. Wright did well to keep himself in the match with a couple of great finishes, but still seems to miss something to close a final against van Gerwen.

Good match that...always like watching MVG...what a fantastic player...would take him over 20 Taylors !!

..but what a player Peter Wright is...people might not like his image..but I think most do and he's really good for darts....but he must be sick of MVG..just like plenty were sick of Taylor...

Looking forward to Ally Pally..a totally different test over sets..a 3 leg burst and you've won a set..and can could suit Taylor and Barney and others....bring it on ..

Ironic for me that MVG should deliver the same winning scoreline that Taylor inflicted on him. Great interview with MVG, commenting on Taylor's attitude towards him.

Than maybe ssjsa is talking about a tournament I've missed. Or he might just be mistaken.

Just being pedantic... :WWWW: ;-)
Don't recall a 16-8 between them.

Only tournaments that play best of 31 matches are GSOD and World Matchplay right? Probably not then.

Pedantry on this forum? Surely not!!! ;) :D

Thats me just finished watching the final. Great tournament overall.

Going back to read this thread as I have avoided knowing the scores until I caught up on Sky+.

Just a simple inaccuracy guys. My immediate memory was wrong.

I made a mistake. Sorry.

Must say I didn't immediately recall the score myself and assumed you were right.

Lost interest in watching the final, you know MVG will beat Coco the clown so why bother watching it? Ando may have been a different prospect.

Only when he was playing Dave Whitcombe, the otheres like Jocky, Lowe et al managed to beat him in finals.

Sorry but Wright just cannot beat MVG and it is infuriating because he plays well against everyone else and then doesn't turn up (the same) against MVG

its just the way sport goes. It was the same with Taylor against many players. Its also the same in many one on one sports including Tennis. When he does get beat it makes it all the sweeter.

and while you are here, please treat our World Champion with respect and decency, I expect better from the Boss on here :

It's a tradition, we insert and extra "N" for every Lakeside won since 2016, just look at Scott Waitens
